19th Century Rosewood Ladies Writing Desk Bureau in Black
This gorgeous, heavily carved 19th Century writing desk has been lovingly restored and given a new lease of life. The fretwork detailing to the front and sides really set this piece apart, whilst the Queen Anne style legs add elegance.
Hand painted in “Eclipse”, a black mineral paint by Bunty’s, to set off the stunning drop front and drawer fronts. Fully stripped and oiled, the striking decorative floral inlays add character and charm.
Internally the body of the piece has been painted in the same black, while the interior rosewood of the cubby holes has been cleaned and a citrus smelling wood salve has been used to bring out the beauty of the wood. The fall front leather has been painted to match, and a gold border added. Pull out support slides with brass handles support the writing flap.
The original handles have been thoroughly cleaned, and the new lock and key is supplied with a toning black tassel. The two main drawers, and two internal drawers have solid wood bases and dovetail joints.
Perfect for the home office, or can be used as a dressing table using the hinged fall front.
